What is Green Lipped Mussel and why do we use it?
We’re guessing that you don’t know too much about Green Lipped Mussel? Well, it's one of the key ingredients in our Joint Care range.
Named for the green color at its edge, this superfood is only found in the crystal-clear waters of New Zealand. It’s packed full of protein, Omega-3, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. And, although it has a pretty fishy smell, (it’s a dried mussel after all), dogs love it!
What are the benefits of the Green Lipped Mussel in dog supplements?
Green Lipped Mussel contains a specific combination of joint-soothing ingredients – most importantly, Omega-3s. They work by supporting the normal inflammatory response. Green Lipped Mussel is also a source if chondroitin which helps to maintain healthy joints.
Why do we add additional ingredients to YuMOVE?
We wanted to make sure that we created a joint supplement that delivers a more rounded approach to health care. So, we’ve added Glucosamine – which provides basic building blocks of cartilage helping to maintain joint structure – along with Manganese to support collagen formation and Hyaluronic Acid to help lubricate and cushion the joint.
Let’s look at the other key ingredients
Glucosamine is often found in supplements as it’s naturally present in the body and provides the building blocks of the cartilage which protects the joint. As your dog’s joints become stiff, adding a joint supplement, like YuMOVE, that includes Glucosamine for dogs can help to maintain joint structure.
Chondroitin is often paired with Glucosamine in joint supplements, to help support the performance of the supplement. Chondroitin is found naturally in Green Lipped Mussel and helps to maintain healthy joints.
Vitamins C & E are antioxidants that neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms that can damage cells, so it’s good to keep them under control as your dog ages.
Manganese is a mineral that’s normally found in foods such as nuts, seeds and leafy vegetables. It’s an important nutrient that’s widely used in pet and human joint supplements. Manganese supports collagen formation in the cartilage, tendon and ligaments – so it’s an important ingredient in YuMOVE.
Hyaluronic Acid is a major component of synovial fluid and part of our unique formula. It helps to lubricate and cushion the joint.
