We love the way that YuMOVE makes such a powerful difference to over a million animals around the world. It helps to support cats’ and dogs’ all-round joint health and mobility, leaving them free to enjoy their life to the full.
But what happens in the early days, when you first give YuMOVE to your dog or cat? Here we look at when you should expect to see a difference, what results to expect, and what’s going on inside your pet’s joints as YuMOVE gets to work.
YuMOVE is doing its thing
When you first start giving YuMOVE to your dog or cat, you may not be able to see a huge difference in the initial days. But you can be sure that YuMOVE is getting to work on the inside. It’s helping to lubricate and soothe your pet’s joints, which will help them to enjoy better joint health and mobility in the long run.
When to expect results
Most owners will notice a difference in their pet in 4-6 weeks, but it can take a little longer to take effect. If that’s the case for you, just stick with it and you should see results before long.
“I have only recently started using YuMOVE for my recently rescued middle aged cat. After just 2 months I am beginning to see her jumping more freely and climbing more.”
Lorna
“The YuMOVE Plus has really helped my dog - after taking it for a couple of months he is jumping around like a six month old instead of his eleven years.”
Mr R Kennedy
Proven to work
At YuMOVE, we’re sticklers for getting the science right. That’s why we submitted YuMOVE to the Royal Veterinary College for independent clinical tests to make sure that it’s effective. So when you give your pet YuMOVE, you should definitely expect to see a difference.
At this point, we’d also like to thank Charlie the chocolate lab, the family pet who was the very first to try YuMOVE and declare it a tail-wagging success!
Natural supplements take time
You might wonder why it can take a few weeks of taking YuMOVE before you see a difference in your cat or dog. This is because YuMOVE is a natural supplement, not a drug, so it takes time to build up in the body.
Your furry friend may be deficient in some of the natural ingredients contained in YuMOVE, so it could take a while for them to top up their reserves of all the high quality ingredients that will help to improve their joint health and mobility.
It’s the same for humans. Say, for example, you want to build up your levels of Vitamin D. You’d expect it to take a few weeks of taking a Vitamin D supplement before you go from being deficient in the vitamin to having the right amount in your body.
Kick start the programme with double the amount
That’s why we recommend giving your cat or dog double the usual daily amount of YuMOVE for the first 4-6 weeks.
This doesn’t apply if your pet is changing from one type of YuMOVE to another. It’s only relevant if they’re taking YuMOVE for the first time.
The idea is that by doubling up on YuMOVE for the first few weeks, you’ll build up the natural active ingredients in your pet’s body faster, so they’ll feel the effects as quickly as possible.
What’s happening in your pet’s joints?
If you’d like to know more about the science, here’s a quick overview of how all our amazing natural ingredients are supporting your pet’s joint health when you first give them YuMOVE.
Green Lipped Mussel.
YuMOVE contains ActivEase ® Green Lipped Mussel, which is a potent source of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs). These play an important role both as a natural anti-inflammatory and in soothing stiff joints. When your dog or cat starts taking YuMOVE, this helps the EFAs to accumulate in the cell membranes of their joints, where they can get to work soothing stiffness and increasing mobility.
The extract of Green Lipped Mussel in YuMOVE also does something clever with the balance of EFAs in your pet’s body. Over time, it boosts the amount of Omega 3 within the joint, which has more anti-inflammatory properties, compared to Omega 6, which is more inflammatory.
Omega 6 fatty acids are more common in food, so it takes time to replace them with Omega 3s in the cell membrane. Starting your pet with a double amount of YuMOVE helps accelerate this process but, as they will still be consuming Omega 6s in their normal food, it is important for them to keep taking YuMOVE consistently to maintain the higher levels of Omega 3.
We’re fanatical about finding the most effective mix of Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) to support your pet’s joints in the best way possible. Our formula is designed to work faster and more effectively within the enzyme system in your pet’s body.
Hyaluronic acid.
Inside your pet’s joints, there is a viscous substance called synovial fluid that acts as a shock absorber and helps to lubricate the joint. Hyaluronic acid helps to maintain the synovial fluid, meaning that your dog or cat will be able to move more freely.
When you give YuMOVE to your cat or dog, the supplement will build up the amount of Hyaluronic acid in their body, which will go to the area where it is most needed. YuMOVE uses a specific type of Hyaluronic acid that has been clinically proven to reach a dog’s joints in just two hours.
There is a constant turnover of Hyaluronic acid in your pet’s body, but dogs and cats produce less of this important substance as they get older. Therefore it’s important to keep giving your pet a supplement containing Hyaluronic acid to maintain the levels of synovial fluid in their joints. When you first give your dog or cat YuMOVE, this will start the process of building up the levels of synovial fluid which will help to lubricate their joints.
Glucosamine hydrochloride (HCl).
Glucosamine provides the major building blocks of cartilage and synovial fluid, both of which help to keep your pet’s joints moving more freely.
During the first few weeks of taking YuMOVE, the supplement will encourage more Glucosamine to accumulate in the synovial fluid. Over time, your cat or dog will be able to store reserves, which will help to protect their overall joint health.
It is a slow metabolic process for the body to build and replace the tissues that are becoming worn in the joints. This rate slows down even further for older dogs and cats, so it’s even more important to provide a joint supplement such as YuMOVE for senior pets.
Manganese.
Manganese is a mineral that is vital for the formation of healthy cartilage and bone. Along with the extra Glucosamine and Chondroitin sulphate, additional Manganese helps dogs and cats to produce cartilage. This tough connective tissue protects your pet’s joints when your furry best friend runs, jumps and plays.
Vitamins C and E.
When your dog starts to take YuMOVE, it will build up the amounts of Vitamin C and E in their body. YuMOVE for cats has a slightly different formulation and just contains Vitamin E. These vitamins neutralise free radicals and help to maintain joint mobility.
Signs to look for
Within six weeks of your dog or cat starting to take YuMOVE, you should see a noticeable difference. They might be more playful. They may look happier. They might want to run and jump more.
Some people have told us that, after taking YuMOVE, their dog is able to jump up onto their bed or into the boot of the car again. To some extent, it depends on the signs of stiffness that your dog was showing before you started giving them YuMOVE.
Cats can also show signs of stiffness as they get older. By giving them a regular supplement such as YuMOVE Cat, you’ll be doing your best to help them support their joints and improve their mobility.
